DEAF POETS; New Single “King (Don’t Matter)”, In Denver 5/27

Proving that Rock & Roll is alive and reverberating out of places you’d least come to expect it, Miami rock duo Deaf Poets are solidifying themselves as a front runner in the genres resurgence.

Sean Wouters (Lead Vocals / Guitar) and Nico Espinosa’s (Vocals / Percussion) signature lo-fi sound breathes new life into a stifled landscape and resonates far beyond their home base of South Florida. The pairs effortlessly vintage cool tunes have built the band a solid foundation and impressive momentum as their accolades continue piling up – with one of their songs selected for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 and being dubbed “Best Band In Miami.”

Deaf Poets are currently preparing to self-release their anticipated full-length album, Lost In Magic City, on May 5, 2017. The album recording process was a tour in itself with tracking done at Atlanta’s Living Room Recording, Bull Productions Recording Studio in North Miami and Cutting Cane studios in Davie. The band put finishing touches on the album themselves with a DIY approach to the remaining recordings. Fans were given a treat with the first track from the project – a gritty garage rock gem entitled “Celestine.” Black Book raved, “their sexy, psychedelic garage rock combines the epic howl of Led Zep with the fierce anxiety of Smashing Pumpkins, all perfectly realized on this wicked new single.”

Today Deaf Poets have teamed up with New Noise Magazine to premiere their feverish new single, “King (Don’t Matter),” which reminds fans how hard these guys can thrash. When asked about how the song came to be, Nico shared,“’King (Don’t Matter)’ was a late addition to the record. We wrote the song as we were finalizing the tracks to ‘LIMC’. The song is about our ups and downs of growing up playing music together. Somewhere along the years, we seemed to have forgotten why we started playing together. ‘King (Don’t Matter)’ is our reminder that we started because it’s all we ever wanted to do and what truly makes us happy. We are going to keep pushing forward no matter what happens.”

Fans can catch these songs live as Deaf Poets will hit the road to tour in support of the project (dates below). Their captivating set is something of legend, leading to the duo becoming regulars at iiiPoints music festival, and opening for the likes of Matt and Kim, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Naked And Famous, Theivery Corporation, and more. Miami New Times cannot believe how great their live show is, raving, “Catching Deaf Poets live, you might find it hard to believe that only two people are onstage making that much noise. You might find yourself searching for a third band member, a rock ‘n’ roll Wizard of Oz whose trickery conjures up all that ruckus.”
