“Saskatoon band Close Talker is a band that’s built its stellar new single, “Afterthought,”

around giving you space. It’s expansive. And as a result, it’s an invitation to lean right in…  the song’s arrangement soars without being in your face. And even though production is slick, the scratches and squeaks of fingers on guitars make sure not an ounce of homegrown feel is lost along the way…”  – NPR

…[Okay Hollywood] a fiery metaphor” – Billboard

….”[Okay Hollywood] is a promising first taste”Noisey

“Close Talker pair their rigid yet sanguine melodies with achingly euphoric lyricism” – Spin

“Simply good at what they do: Straight forward catchiness, finely tuned and delivered cleanly”Consequence of Sound

Canadian indie rock trio, Close Talker is thrilled to unveil there new music video for the single, “Okay Hollywood.” CLICK HERE to listen exclusively on Billboard.  “Okay Hollywood” is featured on their new studio album Lens, to be released on April 21st via Nevado Music.

The band says, “When collaborating with our long-time director and friend Nathan Boey, we wanted to establish a sort of Hollywood aesthetic, with a nonchalant or “too cool for school” attitude.  It is a cold hard fact that cool guys don’t look at explosions and we thought this concept would be a fitting jab at the pompous character that lives deep within us all. Once the idea was established, we had to find a location, which was not an easy feat. Days prior to our video shoot; “Junkyard fire rages out of control” was trending on twitter in Vancouver which posed an issue for us and our initiative to do some explosions and fires in a junkyard… in Vancouver…”

“’Okay Hollywood’ is a true ‘one shot’ video and due to the nature of the explosions, shattering car windows, and nearby police, we had exactly one chance to achieve the concept. Because we had to travel a great distance and we shot the video at two times the normal speed of the song, all our efforts were funneled down to a single clip less than two minutes long.”

“‘Okay Hollywood’ is a sarcastic anthem poking fun at those (ourselves included) who may take themselves a little too seriously and make the mistake of imposing this self-importance onto others. We wanted this concept to be portrayed in the music video while remaining subtle and discrete.”

Lens is a 10-track collection that showcases the band’s maturity and poise, while entering new realms of pop sensibility. Produced by Matt Peters (Royal Canoe, Waking Eyes) and mixed by Marcus Paquin (The National, Arcade Fire, Local Natives), Lens unleashes musical talent and precision without
sacrificing the raw energy, homegrown feel, and vulnerability of the band’s acclaimed live show.

Last year, the band released the first single from Lens called “Afterthought” and it received high praise from NPR.
